My Second Business Anniversary

Second birthday cakeAnother year has flown by, and my writing business is two years old! I’ve come a long way since I decided to go back to my childhood dream of being a writer, and a lot has happened since my first bizversary last year (read more here).

In the last 12 months, I’ve done a lot of thinking about what I want to do, and what I don’t, and the kinds of businesses I’d like to work with. I’m focusing on offering a bespoke service which combines my writing skills and my transcription qualification, to turn video and audio recordings into blog series.

This is more than simply repurposing content, because each post is carefully crafted to share the information in the original material and focuses on one sub-topic at a time. The service is aimed at successful entrepreneurs with a lot of valuable content and enables them to share their messages further.

I’m excited to offer this service, but I also love writing, and definitely need to do that more for business and for My 20th anniversarypleasure. 2017 also saw me mark 20 years as a published writer, which made me feel old but it still feels like yesterday. You can read more about that here, and my first piece of writing here (it’s not that good!)

I participated in eight months of group coaching, which helped me get clarity on where I want to go in the future, and also share ideas with some of my business peers. It’s really useful to have feedback from people who know what it’s like to be in business, but can be objective with you.

I’ve attended two conferences this year, which broadened my viewpoint: Thinking Digital in May was two intensive days of presentations learning about emerging technologies, the digital and online world and new music tools. I highly recommend it, but your brain will be frazzled!

I also attended CMA Live in Edinburgh in June, which gave me the opportunity to learn more about content marketing from some of the foremost experts in the world, as well as lots of networking. At CMA Live

I’m also going to Talking Point of Business, a north-east conference, and spending two days in London for the Youpreneur Summit, which promises to be interesting. I’m looking forward to learning even more about business in the online age.

I’m planning to be location independent from January next year, and the plan is to spend Christmas in France, New Year in Belgium and then go back to Brittany for three months. Watch this space for where we go next!

I’ve also worked with some fantastic businesses and helped clients in diverse industries. I’ve written for marketers, IT and financial consultants, a video expert and the owner of a therapy centre. Most importantly, I’m still loving my work and enjoying telling people I’m a writer (nope, still not bored of that!)

I’m in Stomio, Greece, today, recovering from a traditional wedding. Ya mas!
